Colorful tips with some crack
First things first.. I'm moving this blog over to a different account, so please if you want to keep getting my awesome manis, follow me here:
http://aseriouspolishjunkie.blogspot.com/
It's my my own stupid reasons really.. anyway thanks guys! :) I'm hoping to have a giveaway next month for my one year Bloggaversary!
So I recently was organizing my computer and came across a whole graveyard of pictures of manis I never posted! I don't want them to go to waste so I'm going to post them now, enjoy the first installment of the series.
This is going to be a challenge to remember all the polishes I used, but I think I can do it.
The tips are a little weird because I did this after a few days of wear.

Pink Wednesday-Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!
As I've said before, beside nails and makeup, I also have quite the love of shoes. I think I have well over 100 pairs..which is really bad now when I think about it. Shoes are great though. They make you feel sexy when you're having a bad day. You can go shopping for them and they never make you feel fat. They can really make an outfit. Etc..
To make this shoe mani really special, I added a bling accent nail, which was a major pain in the ass! The thing that really bothered me about this mani was less than 24 hours after I finished the polish just peeled right off! I was beyond pissed!I think the culprit was old Seche Vite that was maybe too thick.
To make this blingy accent nail, first I painted the nail silver with Wet n'Wild's Silvivor. I worked in sections starting from the cuticle. I did a strip of top coat then placed a row or two of sequins on it before it dried. I used a toothpick to pick up the sequins. I also did a gradient of sorts, starting with 2 rows of a transparent opalescent color, then two rows of an opaque opal color and then three of a purple holo color.
I hope that makes sense. Next time I do it I'll try to make a tutorial.

I <333 this mani so damn much! I really have to use that shoe stamp again soon! |

There's some pink in there, so I think it qualifies for Pink Wednesday :)

52 Week Challenge:(I hate) Valentines Day
Single or not, I hate the crap out of Valentines day. I'm not super girly, or mushy, or one to like expensive jewelry or roses (ok, maybe some black ones), never been one for PDA, and stuffed animals make me want to puke. Call me cynical or jaded. For me just spending time with the person you love maybe getting some good food is all I need.
So, I did somewhat of an anti-Valentines day mani. Still complete with the classic red color scheme but with a hit of badass.
Also I usually don't wear red, so it was a fun change of pace, that I am really enjoying.
I hope you guys enjoyed it! :)

This was a lot of fun to do! It been a while since I freehanded leopard spots, and the heart & crossbones was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be.
Making that red color was an adventure in layering on it's own!- 1 coat Sinful Colors-Under 18
- 1 coat China Glaze-Riveter Rouge
- 2 coats Finger Paints- Flashy
I think it was worth it though, because using all those colors and textures gave the color a great depth, in my opinion.
I tried my best to moisturize my cuticles, but Winter can't be stopped. |
I hope you guys enjoyed it! :)

V-Day Pedi
****Warning:Feet Ahead!******
I can't believe I'm showing you my feet. I hate them. I have a freakishly long second toe, that I can use to pick things up with (I even flicked a lighter and lit someone's cigarette with my feet once...it was a while ago haha). Showing my feet also means showing you a few of my tattoos. So, surprises all around.
I used this tutorial from Copy That, Copy Cat as a starting point for this pedi. I just discovered this blog, and am really loving it, especially the tutorials.
What I used:
Color: Wet n' Wild-Red Red
Tips:Sinful Colors-Black on Black
China Glaze-Silver Lining

Broken Hearted.. Tutorial & Late Pink Wednesday
I'm not personally broke hearted, it's just what I'm calling this tutorial. As soon as I saw this was named "Broken Hearted" this idea popped into my head. I feel silly calling this a tutorial, because it's a little lame, but oh well. I have to work on my "tutorial skills. I also made this tutorial almost a year ago, and just realized I never published it! Finally finishing it now, just in time for Valentines day -_- haha
Enjoy your super adorable broken heart!
As you can see I just did this as an accent nail on my thumb, and painted the rest with OPI DS Illuminate
Yay for Broken hearts! |
Step 1- Paint super glittery base coat. I used Color Club Magic Attraction, because well it's holo and I love it.
Step 2- Top with a coat of China Glaze Crackle Broken Hearted
Step 3- When crackle layer is completely dry, top with heart sticker or even tape cut out in the shape of a heart. The important part of this step is to make sure the sticker/tape is flush with nail.
Step 4- Top with black polish, I used OPI DS Illuminate. Before polish dries, use tweezers to remove sticker.
Enjoy your super adorable broken heart!

Challenge #6 (aka #1)-Half Moon
Today you guys get to see the mani I'm actually wearing!... like right now, at this very moment. Are you all excited?! I know I am!.. </unnecessary sarcasm>
Ok I'm going to be honest, I suck at doing half moon manis. I guess they're cute if done right, so maybe I just need practice. Also decided to break out the Crackle polishes today! Underneath all those cracks are my horrible failed first attempt at magnetic polish, something else I'm going to have to practice with. hah
I thought this was ok, but decided to get really fancy and break out the matte top coat too!
I mattified everything except for the half moon, glittery part because, of course, I wanted to keep the bling!
What I used:
Base Coat: China Glaze Magnetix Attraction
Crackle: China Glaze Crackle Cracked Concrete and Fault Line
Glitter Half Moon: Color Club Magic Attraction
Matte: China Glaze Matte Magic

Venturing into Gels and Acrylics!
Truth be told, I wrote this up months ago, so you can see my level of procrastination. hah
Oh hey guys!! I'm back(ish). Life's been crazy, and I've been quite uninspired in all artistic aspects of my life, including nails. Also my nails have been breaking like crazy and are nubs, hence why I decided to try the whole acrylic tips thing. From what I've read the soak off gels, are the least damaging to the nails as well. Hopefully when they grow out a little I can ditch the tips and just stick with some gel, so these babies don't keep breaking on me.
Here's the results of my first attempt at venturing into soak gels with acrylic tips. I think it came out decent, but I have a long way to go!
My thoughts:
Truth be told these were a little thick, but after a few days I got used to them. The glitter on in the tips is a little messy.
I used the IBD Soak Off Gel System, (bought it here, http://www.8ty8beauty.com/uv-gels/uv-gels.htm, as I've said before, I love these guys!) for these. It's a great starter kit for gels!

- Acrylic tips
- IBD Dehydrate
- IBD Clear gel
- IBD Builder gel
- ECO Soak Off Gel Color in Bare Foot Pink (2 coats I believe)
- Clear gel mixed with some AC Moore glitter, trying to make it as flat as possible
- Another thin coat of Clear
- For the leopard spots just a no name Hot Topic polish and some black stripping polish
- Topped it all off with a coat of the IBD UV Top Coat. I found you can use regular polish on top of the gels, with the UV Top Coat, and it lasts pretty much as long as the nails last, with maybe just a little cracking of the polish.
